The tool is completely free, requires no registration, and works instantly in your browser.
Customize your letter set—choose the full alphabet, consonants only, vowels only, or type your own custom letters. Set the style to uppercase, lowercase, or mixed. Spin the wheel and get a truly random letter every time.
What is a Random Letter Wheel?
A random letter wheel is a visual tool that displays letters around a circle and randomly selects one when you spin it. Instead of just generating a letter on a screen, the wheel adds excitement as you watch it spin before landing on your result. GigaSpinner's letter wheel ensures that each letter has an equal probability of being selected, making it perfect for games, education, and fair decision-making.
How to Use the Letter Wheel
Using our random letter generator is simple:
Step 1: Open Custom The Wheel!
Click the "Custom The Wheel!" button below the wheel to open the configuration panel. Here you'll choose which letters appear on the wheel and how they're displayed.
Step 2: Choose Letter Options
Use the Letter Options dropdown to select your letter set:
- A to Z / a to z: All 26 letters of the alphabet (uppercase). Ideal for general use.
- Consonant: Only consonants (B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, Z). Great for word-building games where vowels are handled separately.
- Vowel: Only vowels (A, E, I, O, U). Perfect for vowel-focused games or learning activities.
- A to Z + a to z: 52 letters—both uppercase and lowercase. Use when you want more variety or need to distinguish between cases.
- Custom Letters: Type your own letters (e.g. "Picker" to get P, I, C, K, E, R). Use this for spelling games, custom challenges, or specific letter sets.
Step 3: Choose Style Options
Use the Style Options dropdown to control how letters appear on the wheel:
- UPPERCASE: All letters shown in capital letters (A, B, C, …).
- lowercase: All letters shown in lowercase (a, b, c, …).
- UPPERCASE & lowercase: Mixed casing—alternating between uppercase and lowercase for variety.
Step 4: Shuffle or Sort (Optional)
Use the Shuffle (⇄) button to randomize the order of letters on the wheel, or the Tt button to quickly cycle through style options. The badge next to "INPUTS" shows how many letters are currently on the wheel.
Step 5: Spin the Wheel
Close the custom panel if it's open, then click the "SPIN" button in the center of the wheel. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Enter (or Cmd+Enter on Mac) to spin.
Step 6: Get Your Result
Watch as the wheel spins and slows down. When it stops, your randomly selected letter appears in a popup. Click "Results" to view your spin history, or use "Color The Wheel!" to change the wheel's theme.
